WISAR Female-Mentored Elementary School Girls’ Science Program
Starting in the summer of 2022, we are piloting a female-led science program to introduce young girls to the wonders of science. The goal of this program is to feature female mentors as role models in the profession, as well as to encourage interest in science at a young age through fun, interactive hands-on activities and discussion.
Our first program comprises four sessions, from 12:30-1:30PM on the following Thursdays:
- June 16th
- June 23rd
- June 30th
- July 7th, 2022.
Each will teach various topics on auditory processing, hearing, balance, as well as fun experiments using potatoes as batteries, doing balloon car races, and with baking soda.
We will be teaching about 130 girls in an elementary school near Rice. Come volunteer to help make this a success by filling out our volunteer form at bit.ly/wisar22.
